Fight or Flight?

Whether or not we’d like to admit it, most cities become a lot more dangerous after dark. At times it’s necessary to venture out of your apartment at night, and the last thing you’re looking for is an altercation. If you sense an attacker bearing down on you, the best course of action is to run away. But failing that, you’d be well served to stand your ground and use the element of surprise to throw the assailant for a loop.

An Mtech folding knife is easy to conceal and can spring into action with a moment’s notice. It can be carried discreetly and brought out in the case of an emergency. Oftentimes the mere presence of a knife will be enough to scare off attackers. Remember that criminals prefer to prey on helpless victims. Try taking the offensive and showing your pursuer that you’re anything but helpless.

Self Defense Equipment

Have you ever thought about how many people have self defense equipment. From those star football players sporting their jock cups to the average joe carrying a pocket knife. Every person has a different idea of what self defense means. There are the people that deem it necessary to have a taser or stun gun whereas there are people that feel that pepper spray is more than enough to protect themselves. I was recently in Kentucky where people carried guns around on their sides all over. I am far from being opposed to that idea, but it is something I rarely see where I live. Self defense may, to some people, even include home security. Home is where a person lets their guard down and when that happens, it leaves them vulnerable. So self defense could include all aspects of protecting oneself.

I just watched the new Rob Zombie film, Halloween II, and I found it almost comical that Michael Myers was so capable of getting into people’s homes unnoticed. But then again it was only a movie and where would it be without being slightly unrealistic. Self defense comes in many forms such as pepper sprays, steel batons, pocket knives, and various other forms of protection. From my perspective, I would include these in my list of what I consider to be self defense equipment, but for many others there are much different kinds of protective equipment.

I never thought much about diversion safes. I always thought of them as a neat idea, but beyond that I never thought of them. I had received a few of them disguised as rocks so that I could hide a spare key outside to protect me from getting locked out while at the same time allowing me protection from those not-so-hidden places that robbers are so capable of finding. I never really used them, but that all changed when I heard this story.

A young man and woman were planning on getting married in the near future, but they both had a small salary and couldn’t afford to get married anytime soon. So each month they dilligently set aside a portion of their salary so that they could have the wedding of their dreams. They began scrimping on all the small luxuries they could afford and instead began eating at home and staying in instead of spending extra. They even took on a distant family member who helped with the rent. They figured that they would not only be doing him a favor, but they would also help themselves save more since a smaller portion of their pay would be devoted to food and rent.

The woman noticed that occasionally there would be some of her small valuables gone from her little jewelry box she had in her room and she confronted her fiancee to make sure he had not taken or moved it for any reason. The man denied touching the jewelry and so the couple decided a new tactic. They bought a small diversion safe shaped like a can of soda as well as a few others shaped like random household objects, such as spray cans or other food products. They put the jewelry safely inside and it ceased to disappear. When the man confronted his cousin, who refused to admit his guilt, he found a few pieces of his fiancees jewelry hidden in his room. The couple kicked out the cousin, but were capable of getting married shortly thereafter. They had sold a few of the valuables and eventually came up with enough money to have a beautiful wedding.

Upon speaking with another family member who the cousin had been living, the man learned that the couple had lost a very large sum of money, which they realized shortly after the cousin had decided to move on. The diversion safes were a great way to protect their valuables from being stolen and the thief to simply walk away without them realizing what he had done.

Although I wouldn’t normally say that there could ever be anything wrong with having a personal alarm, there are a few cons I can mention. First of all, the benefit of a personal alarm is to divert muggers. It works very well since it not only alerts others of your presence and draws attention to you and the situation you are in (something that most attackers are desperate to keep from happening), it may not be quite as effective as a taser or stun gun. The personal alarms work well because they take your attacker off guard, but they will not permanently stop your attacker for a few precious seconds. The attacker may be very familiar with security products and not be very surprised when they hear the alarm. This is especially true if they see the alarm in your hand.

Personal alarms can, however, be used under many circumstances. They are great for pinpointing a location and/or drawing attention to a certain area, so it can be very useful for the outdoorsman or elderly. A con in a situation such as this would be that, although the person may have the alarm, if they need to use it they may not be conscious to press it and it would therefore be of no use. For example, an outdoorsman trapped in an avalanche may not be capable of pressing the alarm. Despite this, it can never be a bad idea to take a few precautions and carry one with you. It may mean the difference between life and death.

Another pro of personal alarms is that they are affordable and easy to carry. They do not take up a lot of room and yet they can be very effective in stopping an attack. Throwing an attacker off guard for only a second may be all that you need to protect yourself. In my opinion there is no harm that can come about by carrying a personal alarm, although it may not be the best method for you to protect yourself. It depends on the individual and the situations that they face daily.

Womens Safety

Being a woman makes it that much harder to get by safely on the dangerous streets. Criminals think that women are easier targets than men and therefore are much more likely to attack or rob a woman over a man. Not to mention that women tend to carry more bags and other accessories, such as purses. This means that criminals have a much easier time mugging a woman over a man. Men use pockets and it is much harder to steal something from a pocket than it is from someone’s hand. There are many other facets to womens safety as well. Women tend to be the prime targets for having drugs slipped into their drinks. We offer many products to help protect women. We offer a drink detective test to help prevent all people, but especially women, from becoming victims of date rape drugs. On the cheaper, but just as effective, side, we offer personal alarms and pepper sprays that will stop an attacker in their tracks and allow you, the would-be victim to make your escape. We also offer tasers and stun guns to stop criminals instantly. Let us help you to protect yourself. Don’t become the next victim that appears on the news, protect yourself today!

MTech Folding Knife

A folding knife is a very handy tool that can be of use on multiple occasions. They are great if you need something fast and simple to cut something such as that hard packaging that all products these days seem to come in. It is funny how often one may need a pair of scissors or another sharp instrument to do the job just as well. Pocket knives have always been popular and the kind one has almost seems to define who they are. Both of my grandfathers carried one as well as my father. They were easy to carry in a pocket and they were great. Not only do they have the capability to be used for small, random tasks that arise around the house or even sometimes while out, but they are perfectly capable of defending the user should they need it. It is a more lethal weapon and should therefore be used only with caution and thought involved. Self defense is the only acceptable means of use other than thriftiness, but it is great at what it was intended for.

You, a would-be victim, can have no idea what tools an attacker may be carrying. It is your right to protect yourself against an attacker and that may mean resorting to less pleaureable means. You shouldn’t want to hurt another person, but if it came down to them or you, who would you choose? I am hoping you would choose yourself, a productive member of society, over a criminal.

Stun Gun Flashlights

Ever heard of a stun gun flashlight? Neither had I until I began working on this website of mine. It sounds like a pretty neat way to defend oneself. Stun guns are proven way to combat an attacker with minimal effort on your part, while at the same time maximizing your chances of survival. Now hearing that stun guns also could be disguised as flashlights made me really wonder. If a would-be victim could so easily turn their situation around with a stun gun, how much more effective would a stun gun flashlight be. It would not only allow you to see in the dark, but also provide that element of surprise that attackers almost always seem to have. Don’t let them get the upper hand! It is time that a would-be victim can have the necessary equipment to protect themself. A stun gun flashlight protects you in a very effective and basic way by using the most valuable weapon an attacker has against them. This weapon is simply the element of surprise. With a stun gun disguised as a flashlight an attacker has no chance. This is the way it should be. Maximize your chances of survival by using a stun gun flashlight!

Safety in the Club

As the owner of a nightclub in downtown Flint, Michigan, I’ve learned to prioritize safety measures above all other considerations. Just 30 years ago my city was a booming industrial hub, the home of General Motors and host to a diverse population that lived and worked together in relative peace. In recent years, things have changed. A series of violent incidents in bars and clubs convinced me to take matters into my own hands.

It’s become standard procedure for the bouncer at my club to scan every guest with a Garrett metal detector. It’s a momentary inconvenience at worst, and there’s no doubt that the process is worth the trouble. I’m protecting my own financial investment – and its good reputation – even as I help ensure the safety of each patron. The trend has been catching on in cities across the country, and hopefully it will save lives in the long run.

Frost/Nixon

Continuing with the movie theme, I decided to talk about the movie Frost/Nixon. It is a pretty good movie that shows sparring through words between a young reporter, desperate to reveal the truth behind the Watergate scandal, and the old president Nixon, who’s desperate to keep that part of his past out of the spotlight. It is a match of wits that the young reporter eventually ends up winning despite the challenge that Nixon presents. Nixon admits openly to his involvement in the Watergate Scandal and states that he did what he thought was best at the time.

Overall this movie was pretty good at both bringing to light what happened in the past as well as being entertaining. To me the movie just proved, once again, that nobody is perfect. This to me, means that nobody, especially the government, should have the right to tell me how to run my own life. The government is only that, a government. It was set up with the best intentions by some of the smartest people who ever lived, but even they agreed that the government had it’s limits. The government includes any time of law official. Although they may be doing the best they can to help you, they aren’t you and they won’t always be there. It is every person’s right and responsibility to protect themselves and the ones they love.

Public Enemies

I know I’m on a movie roll, but it keeps being the most relevant thing that pops into my head. I don’t know if anyone has seen the new movie, but I thought it was a good movie. It showed the lives and bake robberies of John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd. The movie had a lot of action and never got boring. There were so many crimes committed that the movie portrayed that I thought it necessary I include it in my blog. Especially since I keep thinking about movies. There were many times that people were in a bad situation and could have possibly escaped if they had some of the security products we today are lucky enough to have. In one scene it was quite comical because John Dillinger walked right into a police station that had a board of all the people the police were trying to catch. That board included him as well as his many accomplices; most of whom were dead. He even asked one of the officers what the score was of a baseball game that was playing on the radio. The officer had no idea who he was talking to.

This to me just proves that although they may be trained for their profession, the police cannot know everything or stop everything that goes on. This is why I’m in favor of having a security product thatI know how to use. This is also why I advise you to get a security product to help protect yourself in times of need. You can never be too prepared.
