A lot of people are intimidated by self defense products because they don’t feel they know how to use them properly. While you shouldn’t be intimidated, it is good policy to be wary of these devices, because they are often very powerful. And while not many even have the potential to be lethal, it’s still a good idea to exercise caution and discretion when using them.

Also, make sure that every self defense product is kept out of the reach of children. Just as you would put proper safety measures on a gun, make sure that you use the same principles with all your self defense products. Also, look into self defense videos that the whole family can watch together. These will help make sure that all members of the family have at least a basic knowledge of the principles of self defense.

Tips with Your Door Alarm

A door alarm can be understood as any device that sounds an alarm when a door is entered, touched, or otherwise altered. But there are some tips to keep in mind with these home protection devices. For one, many door alarms require that the door is not metal. As such, many will only work with wooden doors or doors made of some other non-metallic material. The second major tip with these alarms is that you use them when you’re alone. If you share the house with someone, they are apt to go off repeatedly for non-intruders.

The third and perhaps most important tip is that these door alarms are properly maintained. Like a fire alarm or any other battery operated safety device, these products won’t work if the battery is worn out, defective, or otherwise undesirable. Check the battery every month or so to make sure that it’s still properly functioning. This way, your door alarm is sure to work in that crucial moment when you actually need it.
