Being a housewife, I am all too familiar with knives – the kitchen knife, the garden knife or the letter knife cutter.  It is obviously a cutting implement.  But what is the folding knife?  It is a very different kind of knife whose special feature is a folding handle that can be opened and closed with one hand.  It is usually a knife for the man. Mind you, he can spend hours perfecting the act of opening and closing it.

Very much present in outdoor camping, fishing or hunting trips, folding knives should not be left home in bonding trips with the son.  It can be small and mighty, secure in a pocket or big and bulky, hanging from the waist.  The best will have a blade made from steel with superior grade.  It will have a handsome handle and a leather sheath. It might even be housed in a beautiful box when not in use.  Because it is special, it will require special care.  The blade should be cleaned and the hinge will need regular oiling.

The police, the military and other people concerned with crime prevention use tools to carry out their jobs.  Among the most basic tool in this job is a pair of handcuffs. These are devices designed to secure an individual’s wrists close together so they are prevented from using both hands. In this way, their ability to escape or fight back is reduced.  We are reminded of one of the earliest tricks of Houdini which was to release himself from handcuffs.

Handcuffs are available in metal and usually come with a safety latch and key.  Cost varies depending among other things on the material used.
If we are interested in getting handcuffs for individual use, it is good to know that while police officers and anti-crime personnel are the major users of this product, individuals are allowed to purchase them.  Be confident in restraining the suspect.  Get a pair of handcuffs.

A stun gun and a taser are two very different weapons. A stun gun has to make direct contact, but a taser can strike an attacker up to 15 feet away.  If you would like to purchase a stun gun or taser for protection, but wonder about legal restrictions in your area, check with local law enforcement to ensure you have the most current information regarding legality of these items where you live.

States that currently have restrictions on stun guns include Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin.  Specific cities that have stun gun restrictions are Annapolis and Baltimore, Maryland; Chicago, Illinois; Denison, Iowa; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and the District of Columbia

A good self-defense weapon is something you can always take along with you whenever you go and is very accessible in the pocket or bag. Pen knives look like ordinary pens that you can put on your shirt pocket. It can be used for writing but, unknown to potential assailants, also hides a small blade inside it.

A pen knife can help you handle a possible threat just by pulling the pen apart. You can easily reach into your pocket, reveal the knife and defend yourself. This tiny weapon can save your life. So always be prepared for any situation. Keep a pen knife in your pocket and another in your bag all the time.
