If you’ve recently purchased a stun gun, it’s very likely that you have quite a few questions about that product. While you know that a stun gun can be a powerful deterrent to attackers, what about the logistics of using the weapon? What about some of the safety concerns and risks? To that end, one of the most commonly asked question is what happens if your attacker touches you when they’re being shocked. The answer is nothing. Even if you’re using a powerful stun gun flashlight on an attacker and they are physically holding onto you, the charge will not transfer.

People are also often curious about how clothing will influence the effectiveness of a stun gun. The answer to this common concern is that stun guns can remain effective even though two inches of clothing. Covering other common queries, stun guns can be used multiple times, and they often contain safety features such as an on/off switch to ensure they aren’t accidentally discharged. People should also do some independent research to determine if their state has any laws or restrictions on the use of these weapons.

Personal safety is a priority for every person. As such, it is important to take measures to ensure that you have the means to protect yourself. For many people, this necessitates employing the use of some sort of self-defense weapon.

One of the best ways to stay safe and stop and attack from a distance is with a stun gun. Stun guns are valuable because they are small and easy to carry and do not cause any long term damage. The guns work by depleting blood sugar and interrupting neurological impulses, temporarily incapacitating the assailant.

Most women who arrive at work early in the morning and leave late in the evening know to be on the lookout for potential attackers. It’s an unfortunate fact of life that assailants prey on those who appear to be defenseless. If you can’t avoid a late-night walk through a parking lot or a journey through a dark parking garage, it at least pays to be prepared.

Cell phone stun guns have the nonthreatening appearance of a normal cell phone, but they pack the potential to bring attackers to their knees with devastating efficiency. These “phones” buy women valuable time to escape while an assailant writhes on the ground in agony. Even if you never need to use a stun gun in your life, the peace of mind it affords is priceless.

A stun gun has to make direct contact, but a taser can strike an attacker up to 15 feet away.  If you would like to purchase a stun gun or taser for protection, but wonder about legal restrictions in your area, check with local law enforcement to ensure you have the most current information regarding legality of these items where you live.

States that currently have restrictions on stun guns include Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin.  Specific cities that have stun gun restrictions are Annapolis and Baltimore, Maryland; Chicago, Illinois; Denison, Iowa; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and the District of Columbia
