If you’ve recently purchased a stun gun, it’s very likely that you have quite a few questions about that product. While you know that a stun gun can be a powerful deterrent to attackers, what about the logistics of using the weapon? What about some of the safety concerns and risks? To that end, one of the most commonly asked question is what happens if your attacker touches you when they’re being shocked. The answer is nothing. Even if you’re using a powerful stun gun flashlight on an attacker and they are physically holding onto you, the charge will not transfer.

People are also often curious about how clothing will influence the effectiveness of a stun gun. The answer to this common concern is that stun guns can remain effective even though two inches of clothing. Covering other common queries, stun guns can be used multiple times, and they often contain safety features such as an on/off switch to ensure they aren’t accidentally discharged. People should also do some independent research to determine if their state has any laws or restrictions on the use of these weapons.

Why Choose A Stun Baton?

Browsing through self defense products, it is likely that you’ll come across at least one of the following products-stun gun, Taser, or pepper spray. These three products are by far the most common ways in which people defend themselves against attackers. But even though these are the most common, that doesn’t mean they are the only options. Do a little more research and digging, and it’s very likely that you’ll soon also find the stun baton as a viable self defense product.

While not as many people think to use these stun batons for self defense, they are well known to the general public. This is because they are considered the favored weapon of police officers in riots everywhere. But stun batons don’t have to be used just to fend off the rioting and unruly. Rather, they can be effective and useful in preventing or stopping a one on one attack. They work in the same way as stun guns and Tasers in that they deliver an electric shock, which can temporarily debilitate the muscle function of an attacker. But the baton has the added benefit of allowing you to be farther from your attacker.

Easy Personal Safety

Personal safety is a priority for every person. As such, it is important to take measures to ensure that you have the means to protect yourself. For many people, this necessitates employing the use of some sort of self-defense weapon.

One of the best ways to stay safe and stop and attack from a distance is with a stun gun. Stun guns are valuable because they are small and easy to carry and do not cause any long term damage. The guns work by depleting blood sugar and interrupting neurological impulses, temporarily incapacitating the assailant.

Odd Attacks in Seattle

During the summer months in Seattle there was a peculiar assailant tormenting pedestrians on a trail in Ballard. Over a two week span several bikers and walkers here impaled with 4-inch long darts. The attacker apparently was using a blowgun to hit unsuspecting people, seemingly at random.

After conducting a short investigation, Seattle police were unable to make any arrests in the case. Although the guns are legal, it is obviously against the law to use them in this manner. Most states also have restrictions on using blowguns for hunting as well.

I have always grown up believing that each person has the right to life and that through that right, they also have the right to protect their life. I also have always believed that when a person takes another’s life, they then lose their own right to life. I have been surprised to find out through the years that many people don’t agree with me. Some people argue the exact opposite; that people who kill other people’s life with the premeditated intent of doing so still deserve to live simply because they are considered human. Maybe I am too harsh, but I cannot see how a person who could do something as horrific as that could be put on the same level as the ordinary, law-abiding citizen who could never do such a thing. I am a firm believer that people need to take responsibility for themselves and be willing to protect themselves when in a time of need. We will never be able to prevent evil people from trying to hurt others, but we can help ordinary people learn how best to protect themself. It may not always be enough, but if it can help a few people than it is more than worth it.

Teaching the Assailant a Lesson

As any expert will tell you, the purpose of self-defense is never to inflict great harm to another person. Rather, the idea is to surprise, stun and perhaps temporarily immobilize an attacker, allowing the victim to escape from the altercation unscathed. The most effective self-defense tools share two main characteristics: they must be small enough to be concealable and reliable enough to work every single time.

Telescopic steel batons boast both of those characteristics in spades. Some people are wary of relying on electronics during a time of urgent need. While stun guns seldom malfunction, there’s no way you can go wrong with a steel wand. Bludgeoning an assailant repeatedly with these metal sticks can teach the perpetrator a lesson even as he is rendered powerless to attack.

Diversion Safes

A good friend of mine has recently moved into college and decided to make a small investment in the attempt to protect her valuables. The close quarters that people live in at college makes it that much harder to keep one’s things separate from others. She decided to buy a diversion safe because she didn’t know whether or not her roomate could be trusted and she didn’t want to take any chance with her extra cash and expensive jewelry that had value deeper than just the cost. A diversion safe was the perfect way to keep these materials safe. She has told me about many other people who have confided in her the fact that some of their valuables have mysteriously disappeared. She has said that when told this she can do nothing but smile to herself because she knows she made the right decision to protect herself and her things.

Renting an Apartment? Go the Wireless Route

When I moved into an inner city townhouse, security became an immediate priority. Being unfamiliar with the neighborhood and the cast of characters who made their home there, I was understandably tentative about leaving my home exposed to an invasion. Within a few weeks I had heard several gunshots and a neighbor had been carjacked. During the day, the area appears safe and family friendly. It’s quite a different story at night.

I spoke to the landlord about bringing in a guy to install an alarm system. He immediately shot down the idea of running wires through the walls, and I had no control as a tenant. That’s when the idea of purchasing wireless home alarms struck me as prudent. The system was simple to install, and I had it up and running in a matter of hours. Several rudimentary tests have shown that the system works, and I feel as if a great burden has been lifted from my shoulders.

Kubatons

Kubatons are a great way to protect yourself and their are tons of pros to them. A kubaton is a very small tool that you can easily put onto a keychain. This is the perfect place to put one because when most people go out they carry their keys with them so it will be a tool that you would always be able to have on you and would therefore prevent you from becoming a victim. A kubaton is very small and handy. It is the perfect size because it stays out of your way when you don’t need it, but the whole point of it is that has a longer length and is much stronger than your finger. The idea behind a kubaton is using it to jab your attacker in a sensitive spot, such as the ribs, groin, solar plexus, or eyes. This will stop them from an immediate attack and may provide just enough time to allow you to make your getaway.

WIth how much they cost (next to nothing) and how effective they are it makes me wonder why more people don’t have them. I was surprised to find out how few people knew what I was even referring to when I mentioned the word “kubaton” to them.

Blowguns

I think everyone has a good idea what a blowgun is. They were used mostly by indigenous tribes in South America and Southeast Asia to shoot small game. Today they have been drastically improved. They are no longer powered by the respiration of a person, but are an actual gun used mainly for tranquilizing and capturing wildlife. It is something that is shown very often in movies. Both types appear in movies but of different types.

Today, blowguns are used for recreational purposes as well. They are used to shoot targets and simply for fun. They are a neat object that have the potential to produce many hours of enjoyment, but they most definitely have to be used with caution in mind. They are very safe when used with care and common sense, but they have the potential to easily injure someone. So have fun, but be safe.
